Ovation Donor Services Is Growing Its Diverse Pool of Donors
Despite a challenging start to 2020, Ovation® Donor Services closed out the year with a strong, diverse and ever-growing donor pool. While the initial pandemic restrictions limited our ability to screen and cycle donors for a large part of the year, by the time the ball dropped on 2021, we had completed 16 donor cycles since the restrictions were eased.
While some of these cycles allowed us to successfully satisfy postponed matches from earlier in the year, the majority were “replenish and growth” cycles for our frozen oocyte inventory. We have a number of cycles already confirmed for the beginning of 2021 and will continue to add more in the coming months.
We are aware that a diverse donor pool is a key component of success, and a vital consideration for you and your patients. We continue to monitor the characteristics and requirements that our intended parents are seeking, and will screen and cycle donors accordingly.
We know that most intended parents prefer donors who re in the process of, or have completed, at least some level of secondary education. At ODS, 87% of the donors cycled by the end of 2020 meet this requirement. Of our recent cycles, 53% of donors are white, 35% are Latin/Hispanic, 31% are Asian, and 16% are African-American. We are actively seeking donors of varied ethnicities to accurately reflect the diverse options our IPs are selecting.

As we look forward to this new year, we will continue to nurture and enlarge our donor pool. We plan to expand donor recruitment into new territories and are excited about the new opportunities that presents. We are committed to maintaining our current trajectory of replenishing depleted inventory, while continuing to increase the number of eggs we have available.
